Kosher in Rome – Kosher restaurants in Rome

Rome is simply a paradise for those who keep kosher. How convenient is it to be able to travel to Rome without worrying about kosher food? In the Jewish quarter of Rome, there are kosher restaurants where you can try local foods without having to worry about dietary restrictions. Many of the dishes are similar, but it’s a more enriching experience when you can enjoy the local cuisine without the need to think about specific dietary guidelines.
The Jewish community in Rome includes approximately 12,000 Italian citizens, so there is a fairly large selection of kosher restaurants and shops in Rome.
The Chabad house is not located in the city center, but it hosts many travelers for a nominal sum for meals throughout the year, like every Friday and on holidays, to finance its continued existence in Rome.
You can eat kosher Friday or Shabbat meals in Rome also in the Jewish Quarter area, you must make arrangements in advance with the restaurants that hold feasts and pay them in advance (about 35 Euros per person)
Some of the kosher restaurants in Rome, particularly in the Jewish quarter, offer a mix of pasta and hummus, resulting in a somewhat unbalanced menu. The service can be inconsistent, varying from one visit to another. It seems to be a matter of luck. In the following list we tried to make it easier for you to choose, we indicate the well-known restaurants, many of which are located next to each other or in another area of the city
This is why we do not have a kosher culinary tour in Rome: the entire street extends for about 300 meters, and kosher eaters will probably already visit all the restaurants independently anyway during the trip. We prefer to give added value with a tour of the Jewish Quarter, the Jewish Museum and the Great Synagogue.
